Iceland, the land of fire and ice, has captivated travelers with its dramatic landscapes, pristine wilderness, and unique natural wonders. For me and my friends, it stands out as one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. Over the past ten years, we’ve journeyed to this Nordic island twice, each time in the summer, renting cars to explore its myriad waterfalls and breathtaking scenery. Our Icelandic adventures have taken us through verdant valleys, past cascading waterfalls, and across stark, volcanic landscapes. The freedom of having a car allowed us to venture off the beaten path, discovering hidden gems and soaking in the raw beauty of nature. Among the highlights were the big massive stone walls of Bifröst, the mystical witch’s hat geologic feature at Grundarfjörður, and the otherworldly black sand beaches that stretched along the coast.Iceland’s waterfalls never ceased to amaze us. We marveled at the raw power of Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and the neighboring Selfoss, each providing a spectacle of natural force. The newly discovered Egilsstaðir canyon offered an unexpected delight, revealing yet another layer of Iceland’s untouched beauty. Glacier Lagoon, with its floating icebergs and serene waters, provided a stark contrast to the rugged terrain. No trip […]
My trip to Sri Lanka in May 2023 with Gadventures was an unforgettable experience, filled with cultural richness, breathtaking landscapes, and moments of pure relaxation. One highlight was visiting the Temple of the Tooth, where I was deeply moved by the connection to Buddha as a real historical figure. After a hot day touring the beautiful botanical garden, relaxing in the infinity pool at the Thilanka Lodge provided the perfect balance of adventure and tranquility.Additionally, the local cuisine was a delightful revelation. Enjoying dishes like red rice, dhal curry, and kekri at Amba Estate and Sthree Cafe added a delicious layer to the trip, showcasing the vibrant flavors and culinary traditions of Sri Lanka. To top it all off, visiting the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe National Park and seeing leopards at Yala National Park made this adventure one to always remember. This journey was a perfect blend of cultural immersion, natural beauty, and leisurely enjoyment. Day 1: Arrive in Colombo Upon arriving at Colombo airport in Sri Lanka, I attempted to request an Uber through the app but struggled to connect with any drivers. Opting for the Uber stand available at the airport, although uncertain if it was affiliated with […]

As someone who has always been fascinated by human history, I was thrilled by the chance to uncover the mysteries of an ancient civilization. The breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Machu Picchu promised an unparalleled adventure and a chance to walk in the footsteps of the Incas. The journey was filled with unforgettable experiences. I explored the “4 ruins” of Cusco, each offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Incan architecture and engineering. I marveled at the Maras salt mines, a stunning network of terraced salt pans that have been in use since pre-Incan times. One of the highlights was hiking 5 miles along a train track to Santa Teresa, where I embarked on an exhilarating white-water rafting trip along the Urubamba River. This adventure not only satisfied my curiosity about the past but also provided a stunning backdrop to a memorable Olympic experience.
